The Young Men's Christian Association is a worldwide Christian youth movement based on the "Paris Basis": "The Young Men's Christian Associations seek to unite those young men who, regarding Jesus Christ as their God and Saviour, according to the Holy Scriptures, desire to be his disciples in their faith and in their life, and to associate their efforts for the extension of His Kingdom amongst young men."
Based on this Basis, the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong was established in 1901. Its constitution states that the core purpose and objective of the Association are "to develop Christian character and to cultivate the Christian spirit of service among young people, in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ."
